Regulations Bodies of Water List of Preserves The DuPage County Forest Preserve District has some of the most beautiful and picturesque nature preserves in all of the Midwest. Many of the preserves contain multiple fishing opportunities, making the West Suburbs of Chicago a Fisherman's paradise.
The District has over 30 bodies of water within it's preserves, including the
the likes of the Des Plaines River, the East and West Branches of the DuPage
River, and Salt Creek.

Location: Main Entrance on the north side of Butterfield Road, 1/4 mile west of Winfield Road and one mile east of Rt. 59. Canoe Launch is on the south side of Mack Road (1/4 mile east of Rt. 59 and two miles west of Winfield Road. Launching from this area is into the West Branch of the DuPage River. Warrenville, IL. Bodies of Water on Site: West Branch of the DuPage River, Silver Lake and White Pines Pond Types of fish: Bluegill, catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, northern pike, rainbow trout and walleye Other Info: Silver lake is open to rowboats, sailboats, canoes, kayaks and some multi-chambered inflatables daily from early March until December. |

Location: On the north side of Fullerton Avenue one block east of Villa Avenue. Addison, IL Bodies of Water on Site: Green Lake, Stonewort Pond and Riverbend Pond. Types of fish: Largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, sunfish and bluegill. Other Info: On the south side of the preserve is a model boating area. A permit is required to launch model boats and can be obtained at the District's administrative offices or by mail. |

Location: On the east side of Rt. 53 (1/4 mile south of Butterfield Road - Rt. 56) just north of the Morton Arboretum. Glen Ellyn, IL Bodies of Water on Site: Hidden Lake (North Lake), Round Meadow Lake (South Lake), and East Branch of the DuPage River. Type of Fish: Bass, crappie, sunfish, channel catfish and carp Other Info: The name Hidden Lake comes from the south lake which is mostly hidden from view. This lake is a former quarry that has filled over the years. |

Location: At Cass Avenue and Northgate Road -- will have a vertical "Argonne" sign on the corner. I-55 to South Cass exit, take Cass south to Northgate Road, west on Northgate Road 250 ft. to entrance on the north side. Darien, IL. Bodies of Water on Site: Des Plaines River and several old quarries scattered throughout the site. Type of Fish: Largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, carp and bullheads. (Northern, smallies, sauger and walleye?) Other Info: DuPage County's only artesian well can be found at Waterfall Glen. The flowing water is caused by pressure on the groundwater from the higher land overlooking the well. Due to the lack of a modern well casing, the county health department suggests that visitors do not drink from the well. |
